Transactional Firm

Our attorneys have chosen to focus on transactional legal matters, which include both the preparation, negotiation and review of legal documents and the giving of personal and business legal counsel. Rather than handling contested legal matters, the lawyers at the Law Office of Ruth Brock regularly help to resolve or prevent legal disputes.

Our transactional practice allows us to stay closely connected to our clients. We have had some clients for many years and have been privileged to help and serve them in a variety of legal matters. Our attorneys look forward to helping you, your family, and your business with the legal counsel you need.

When we represent our clients, we are mindful that we live in a litigious society, meaning we constantly assess how we can keep our clients out of litigation and advise them accordingly.

We focus our practice on specific types of transactional law, including:

Real Estate Law

Whether you have a residential or commercial real estate need, our lawyers can help with the drafting and negotiation of the legal documents involved, including contracts, commercial, residential, and retail leases, warranty deeds, oil and gas leases, and easements

Attorney Ruth Brock is Board Certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in the fields of commercial and residential real estate. Ruth reviews title commitments, mortgage documents, oil and gas leases, and surveys with the familiarity that comes with 30 years in private practice

Our clients include commercial real estate developers, builders, landlords, tenants, property managers, and many other types of real estate transactions.

Estate Planning and Wills

One of our goals is to help you pass your property at your death to your loved ones in the most efficient way possible. Our attorneys also help you establish a plan for handling your affairs if you become disabled or incapacitated.

We will listen and counsel you on the various estate planning options link to estate planning and wills practice area page and then draft your documents reflecting your specific wishes and desires.

We also work closely with your financial advisor, accountant, or other trusted advisor as necessary.

Probate

The word "probate" generally raises more questions than answers. Our attorneys are here to answer those questions. Those who have lost a loved one usually don't know what, if any, legal processes are required as a result of a death. After reviewing relevant family history, debts and assets of the deceased person, our office can recommend the appropriate probate procedure, if any. Based on your circumstances, our office can help you obtain Letters Testamentary, provide counsel on the appropriate actions to be taken under a Trust Agreement, or use a variety of informal methods of probate.

Business Law

The life cycle of a business is essentially formation, operation, and termination.

Whether you are forming a brand new business (such as a corporation, partnership, limited liability company, professional association, professional limited liability company, or any other type of business), need help operating an existing business, or winding up and terminating a business, our attorneys can help you.

Our Business Law practice also involves helping businesses and its owners determine what is supposed to happen upon a "trigger event", such as the death, disability, incapacity, retirement, divorce, or bankruptcy of an owner, or if a business owner wants out of the business and wants to sell to other owners or a third party. It is better for all parties to agree upon the terms of each "trigger event" long before the event occurs.

Our clients usually come to us for help in forming their business and wind up staying with us as issues arise in their day-to-day concerns. However, if you have an existing entity and need some help operating it, we can help you as well.

We would love to have the opportunity to work with you and advise you on how best to address your business's legal needs.
